Open Dental Claim Submission Error Messages

Treating Prov NPI must be a 10 digit number with an option prefix of 80840
This means that the treating provider on the claim has not been completely set up in Open Dental. Chances are, the provider is still going through the HR onboarding process. Once completed, HR will pass the information to the billing department and then Open Dental will be updated. In the meantime, mark the claim unsent with a status note. Once we are able to submit claims for the new provider, billing will reach out to the office to submit all ‘unsent’ claims on hold.
